NISSAN STADIUM
NISSAN STADIUM
The final game of 2002 FIFA World Cup watched by 1.1 billion viewers around the world was held here at Nissan Stadium (formally Yokohama International Stadium). There are only 18 stadiums that have held the World Cup final games, and Nissan Stadium is the only stadium in Asia to join the honor list of being the World Cup final hosts.
Nissan Stadium has also held the FIFA Club World Cup final four times between 2005 and 2012. It is Yokohama’s pride that Nissan Stadium was chosen as the final game field of the world’s top dream game. Here at Nissan Stadium, we are working diligently to keep our facility at its finest condition to satisfy the top soccer players and athletes.
In order for the public to know what our soccer pitch feels like, Nissan Stadium organizes some events. At “experience the pitch” events people can sit or lie down on the ground to feel the turf. We also hold some soccer tournaments.
We will keep doing our best to keep this “dream field” at its best for soccer players and athletes, and for the public to know its quality.
We have some episodes and bits of knowledge about sports turf. Please have a look at them.
We will introduce more sports turf talks on staff blogs. Please read them.
